Barnsley 2 - Sheffield United 2

Preview

A fiery derby at Oakwell between South Yorkshire rivals, finished off in stalemate even though the reds looked good for 3 points. Once again the referee had a big say in the fortunes of Barnsley footballl club, and the penalties can still be debated whether or not they were justified. In the end the ref gave Sheffield United two penalties and they couldn't score past us in open play. So helping hand it was.

We worked hard and were the better side for large portions of the game, so we can feel a little badly done to on the night. The night was all about the missing Chris Morgan and to that effect there was a flag making its way across the ponty end with the portrait of Morgan with the word 'Coward' emblazoned below. As his tackle for no reason against Newcastle United saw him suspended for the game at Oakwell, a game in which he would have received a HUGE amount of stick.

Darius Henderson was given two penalty kicks which gave Sheffield United a unlikely draw at south Yorkshire rivals Barnsley.

The Blades have further additions to the injury list as Ian Bennett and defender Matt Kilgallon are replaced, and it was Anderson de Silva's thunderbolt put Barnsley ahead, and kicked the game into overdrive.

Henderson pulled the blunts level after Luke Steele was somewhat harshly adjudged to have fouled Ched Evans.

We were back in front thanks to an close range header by Daniel Bogdanovic from nice work and cross from the hard working Jon Macken, who himself had numerous good headed chances. Henderson hit another penalty, when Adam Hammill was judged to have impeded Kyle Walker in the area.

Comments from Barnsley manager Mark Robins:

"To only draw a game like that after we've played so well is difficult to take."

"We played really well. We passed the ball well and controlled the game for large parts.

"It was a good game, a decent derby game. They've had a couple of chances, they've hit the woodwork, but they've been given the two penalties."
