Derby 2 - Barnsley 3

The reds travelled to Pride Park for this midweek fixture desperate to get more points on the board. It started in familiar fashion going a goal down to a Rob Hulse header.
Adam Hammill pulled a goal back with a spectacular long range goal.

As part of a new look midfield (Hammill, Colace, Butterfield, Hallfredsson ) Adam Hammill got his first goal of the season for the reds since his full signing and it came in style.

Looking to register our first win of the season, the reds attacked the Derby goal in the second half, this was rewarded with the second goal and the lead for the first time in several games through Andy Gray who put his chance away in the bottom corner from just inside the area.

Mark Robins started the game with Iain Hume partnering Andy Gray up front, once the reds were ahead, Hume was substituted for another striker in the form of Jon Macken. Perhaps a sign of Robins' attacking intent, instead of trying to close shop and introduce another midfielder or defender to keep hold of the lead.

This was just the required performance and result for club when all looked to be going very pair shaped, a spirited fight back from a goal down showing that the spirit hadn't all gone, after being written off by everyone, we now have a base to take into the Swansea game on Saturday, the first home game with Mark Robins in charge looks set to be an interesting game.

Perhaps a surprising omission from the starting line up Anderson de Silva was brought into the fray for the last ten minutes, replacing Hallfredsson who had a solid game and providing the assist for Andy Grays goal.

To cap a fine team performance Anderson gets Barnsley's third, 3 minutes into injury time, scoring from inside the six yard box from a pass from Jacob Butterfield. Injury time provided a bit of a goal fest in the game, with Barker replying to Andersons late goal with Derby's second on 96 minutes seeing his header go in following a cross from Gary Teale, and creating a nervous finish for the fans who had made their way to Pride Park.

In the end the reds hold on to the fist victory of the season, despite the expected onslaught from the home side in the last quarter and last minute scare. The First win for Robins, good stuff to come from him? Something to cheer for the fans, well done reds! See you Saturday.
