A home game where based on recent form, Reds fans wouldn't have been to optimistic expecting something from this game, and despite Marlon Harewood opening the scoring against his old club the Reds ended up being hammered at Oakwell, thanks to a 10 minute spell that saw Forest sprint into the lead with three goals.

Marlon Harewood opened the scoring for the Reds with his close range goal, but Forest destroyed the Reds in a single 10 minute period, with Greg Halford putting the away side level from 18 yards out. Simon Cox got Forests second and then the third was added on the stroke of half time by Chris Cohen to reverse the scoreline and send Forest in at the break 1-3 up.

On loan Tottenham player Jermaine Jenas finished off the scoring in what may be his last appearance for Nottingham Forest, but Forest manager Sean O'Driscoll stated that he wants to try to extend his loan period from the Premiership club.

Forest ended up comfortable winners but a nice counter attack breakout goal from Harewood put them behind, as Dawson broke from his own half and found Jacob Mellis who in turn played in Harewood with a nice ball, and he did the rest as he took the ball round the keeper and placed the ball home.

Greg Halford put the visitors level, but it was only after his weak shot took a deflection off Scott Goldbourne leaving Alnwick stranded at the wrong side of his goal. Then on 42 minutes Cox tapped in a rebounded effort to put Forest in front, then they were in a dramatic turnaround lead at 1-3 on 45 minutes as Cohen hit the best effort of the day with a stunning strike into the top corner from 25 yards out.

In the second half Forest looked to have the Reds contained but the occasional foray from Barnsley produced opportunities as Etuhu was denied by Camp in the Forest goal with good stop.

Jermaine Jenas entered the fray as a substitute and the fresh legs combined with a bit of class so him race on with 12 minutes to go and produce a fine chipped goal to make the points certain for Forest, and add to the disappointment of the Barnsley faithful on the day.
