Barnsley are undone by ex Sheff Utd man. Steve Kabba popped up in the 86th minute to steal all the points for Blackpool. Leaving the reds desperately chasing the points again in the midweek game coming up against Cardiff City.
Hugo Colace started the game following his long awaited international clearance, with Diego Leon making room for the Argentinian. Another positive was the appearance of Heinz Muller on the bench.
The reds fought well throughout and was looking at hard working point, but the last few minutes came to haunt us, with a defensive mix up letting in Kabba.
It took Steve Kabba four minutes to test Luke Steele, and a minute later Kabba put in Adam Hammill who fired over.
Barnsley replied as Martin Devaney found Howard in a space at the edge of the area, but Howards shot went straight to Rachubka in the Blackpool goal.
On 19 mins Devaney looked to have created a decent penalty shout, as he tried putting Hume through but the ball was blocked by the arm of Evatt. The referee did his impression of Manuel in Faulty towers, as again a referee of a Barnsley game said... "I know nothing..." or should it be I saw nothing... is it me or is the quality of refereeing in the Championship absolutely atrocious these days? .. but don't get me started on that one!
El Haimour got behind the Blackpool line, and put Macken in 12 yards out, but his volley, went in the direction of Rachubka. And on 31 minutes Foster, only minutes after getting the first card of the game, rattled in a shot that the Blackpool keeper could only block away from goal.
36 mins. saw the best Barnsley effort as Devaneys run and cross found Macken who put his free header over from 6 yards out.
Ben Burgess had a gilt edge chance from 12 yards out, which looked like an easy goal, after being put in by Taylor-Fletcher, his shot on 44 mins. went sailing over instead of the back of the net.
Odejayi started making a nuisance of himself managing to get a fizzing cross across the face of goal, but nobody was able to get on the end of it. The reds had another penalty shout waved away on 63 mins. following Mackens flick which again was blocked by the arm of a Blackpool defender, so on another day the scoreline could have had a very different complexion.
Close chances followed from both sides, with Vaughan racing toward Steele put his effort well wide, meanwhile Souza headed a free header wide from a Hugo Colace corner.
On 73 mins. Steve Kabba raced in, got past Souza and pulled the ball back for Southern whos shot from 12 yards hit Foster on the goal line, Blackpool in all fairness had a good shout for a penalty themselves, but I have a feeling the referee tried balancing his other bad decisions and waved it away again.
Danny Nardiello nearly etched his dramatic signature on the game against his old side, he raced onto a ball on 83 minutes from what looked like an offside position and his goal bound effort was cleared off the line by the ever ready Kozluck.
The Blackpool winner occurred in another of Barnsley defences slow motion sequences, as both they and the midfield all watched as Steve Kabba picked up the ball 30 yards out, and still all watched as his effort sailed into the corner of the net. Steele prevented a second with an excellent point blank save from that man Nardiello following some good work down the wing from Taylor-Fletcher.
A dissapointing finish and result after an adequate Barnsley display over the majority of the game, it was again one moment of madness that cost us taking something away from the game.
